Hey y’all! So, I got my first FabFitFun box in the mail a looong while ago, and now that I’ve had a chance to actually try everything, I wanted to share my thoughts! If you haven’t heard of FabFitFun (have you been living under a rock!?), it’s a quarterly lifestyle subscription box with beauty, fitness and wellness related items. This was my first box and it was full of great items. Just a warning, if you plan to get the Summer 2018 box or Summer 2018 editor’s box, and want the items to be a surprise, this post does contain spoilers! (I mean, c’mon, though — it’s been out for a couple months!) Otherwise, read on for a review of the Summer 2018 FabFitFun box!
I hadn’t had a subscription box since I cancelled my Sephora Play subscription last fall. I missed getting goodies in the mail, and needless to say, I fell victim to the almost constant advertising for FabFitFun on Instagram! I’ve been using most of these products for over a month now, so I think I have a pretty good idea of how they all work and what I think of them. The box this season was super cute– and that’s saying a lot since I generally couldn’t give a poo about packaging! According to FabFitFun, the total value of this box is estimated at $340.99.
Everything came intact and pretty well insulated against jostling. First impressions: Yay for the hair protectant spray, the highlighter palette, the sunscreen, the train case, and the exfoliating cleanser. Nay for the ForeaLuna gadget. I felt pretty neutral about the cute lil dish from Pier One, the straw, and the muscle gel. But keep reading for my “informed” opinions!
Orlando Pita Play Atmos-Shield Hair Protectant Treatment Spray, $34 : Now that I’ve been using it every day, I can say that I definitely like this spray. It’s not greasy, smells lovely and is doing a great job protecting my hair. I use it whether I air-dry or blow-dry. I miiiight purchase, but only if I can find it cheaper than it is on the Orlando Pita website! ($34! As if.)
Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, $29 : I love the Vasanti exfoliator, too. It’s super fine grit and my skin feels sooo smooth after I use it.
tarte tarteist™ PRO glow highlight & contour palette, $45 : This palette is so lovely. It’s got great pigmentation, will work for bronzey summer and fair winter looks, and has found its way into my day to day routine. It’s mostly powder highlighters and one cream contour (bottom left). I don’t really use the cream contour because it’s pretty dark for me and takes a lot of blending.
Yumi Kim Makeup Train Case, $30: Cute and functional, this little train case even has a brush organizer in the top section. I can’t wait to travel with this.
Wildlife Conservation Society straw : I almost never use a straw at home, so that’s currently sitting in a drawer. Maybe I should like, put it in my car or something? I’m all about getting rid of single-use plastics though, so the idea is pretty cool.
Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel. $39 :I think the muscle gel is nice, but I think it relaxes your muscles more because you have to rub it in, rather than the lavender relaxing your muscles. It has a cooling effect and bit of a mentholated smell, which is kind of nice in summer. It’s best to keep in the fridge for after a hot workout or for a massage before bed.
COOLA Classic Face SPF 50 White Tea, $32 : First off, you’ve got to be shitting me — 32 bucks for sunscreen? This is not the kind of product I feel the need to splurge on. Guess I’ll just enjoy this while it lasts. Second, it smells OK, but the “white tea” scent is secondary to the “sunscreen” scent. But it does get the job done. Just a side note/rant: Since I’ve gotten this box, I’ve noticed COOLA freakin’ everywhere on social media. It kind of weirds me out when I notice that a brand’s PR is pushing so hard — but hey, maybe I’m remiss and this stuff is the bomb and all the bloggers really are using it because it’s awesome and not because they’re being paid to promote it. Whatevs.
FOREO LUNA! fofo : So, it vibrates, but not enough to really do anything? It certainly doesn’t make my skin feel any different or better than a washcloth or exfoliating sponge. And, I have to admit, I think even just the idea of this is stupid. Gadgets like this always strike me as completely unnecessary, and I just think about this crap ending up in a landfill somewhere. Please, FabFitFun, never send me anything like this again.
Thanks for stopping by!
